During China’s NPC&CPPCC this March, Qin Yinglin, chairman of “Pig in Maotai” Muyuan (002714. SZ), shared his Suggestions on Promoting High-quality Development of the Pig Industry. He pointed out: “…to speed up the high-quality development of the pig breeding industry, optimize the feed formula structure, accelerate the intelligent transformation of pig farming, and stabilize pig production by increasing support for breeding areas and establishing long-term regional subsidies for pig production and sale. To move from quantitative farming to qualitative farming, the pig companies must take the road of high-quality development.”
China is one of the largest pig producers with the largest pork consumer, and the high-quality development of the pig industry is directly related to the national economy and the people’s livelihood. By the end of 2021, the breeding sow and pig stock had recovered to the level before African swine fever (ASF). Overall, China is a large market for pig breeding companies; however, the quality needs to be improved. There are still gaps in breeding performance compared with the world’s advanced level, and basic breeding should be enhanced.
