China Agricultural University (CAU) launched two alumni associations—the College of Animal Science and Technology Alumni Association and the Poultry Industry Alumni Association. These organizations aim to strengthen collaboration between academia and the animal husbandry industry. Leadership includes key figures like Professor Guo Yuming as president, and industry leaders from DBN Group and VICA Group in executive roles. These associations foster connections, promote innovation, and establish practical learning bases, including partnerships with DBN and CP China. AgriPost.CN, led by alumnus Allen Shu, is pivotal in bridging academic and industry efforts. The associations mark CAU’s commitment to integrating education with practical application, enhancing the global competitiveness of China’s livestock sector.
The founding ceremony of the Alumni Association of the College of Animal Science and Technology and the Poultry Industry Alumni Association at China Agricultural University (CAU) were recently held in Beijing. This development is regarded as a new opportunity to enhance the deep integration of industry, education, research, and application within China’s animal husbandry sector.
Leadership and Structural Appointments
The associations’ initial council comprises 42 graduates or teachers from the college and 32 from the poultry enterprises respectively. Professor Guo Yuming, Dean of CAU’s College of Animal Science and Technology, was elected as the president of both associations.
Notable appointments include Dr. Shao Genhuo, Chairman of DBN Group, and Liao Feng, Chairman and President of VICA Group, who will serve as Vice Presidents of the college’s Alumni Association. Likewise, leaders from major poultry enterprises, such as Wang Changhong of Shanxi Jinlong and Xiao Fan of Fujian Sunner, will assume vice-presidential roles within the Poultry Industry Alumni Association.
Both alumni associations have adopted a dual-secretary system. Zhao Yue, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee at the College, and Allen Shu, co-founder and managing editor of “AgriPost.CN,” serve as secretaries for the college’s alumni association. The Poultry Industry Alumni Association’s secretaries are Xiao Fan and Wang Zhongqiang, Secretary-General of the Beijing Egg Products Processing and Sales Industry Association.
A Vision for Academic-Industry Synergy
Professor Guo noted that the College of Animal Science and Technology at CAU has developed into a world-class animal science discipline over its hundred-year history. He emphasized that these associations will serve as a bridge and platform for alumni. This initiative will enable graduates to connect, share successes, address challenges, and collaboratively craft outstanding futures in their personal and professional lives.

Luo Cong, Director of CAU’s Alumni Office, emphasized the associations’ pivotal role in strengthening CAU’s connection with its alumni, aligning with China’s goals for quality and competitive agricultural practices. CAU envisions a multi-layered alumni organization that leverages regional, college, and industry contributions to support collective growth.
Strategic Partnerships for Applied Learning
During the inauguration, CAU’s College of Animal Science and Technology formalized partnerships with alumni-related companies, including DBN, Beijing Dairy Center, and CP China. These collaborations focus on establishing internship and practice bases.
As the host of a secretariat, “AgriPost.CN,” was also established by alumni of the College of Animal Science and Technology as a research and communication organization for the agri-food industry. Our managing editor Allen Shu led the student journalist corps at the university’s news center and spearheaded the creation of the college’s media center during his study time at the university in 2001-2005. At the end of 2018, several former members of the student journalist corps, each with over a decade of experience in media, marketing, or consulting, collaborated to launch this industry service platform.
