China’s Ministry of Commerce said on November 28 that it is encouraging to expand meat imports with diversified sources. It is estimated that the annual imports will exceed 6 million tons in 2019, including over 3 million tons of pork and its by-products. The ministry will also release state meat reserves during the new year holiday to meet consumer demands. China imported 1.33 million tons of pork and 0.85 million tons of pork by-products in the first nine months, up 43.6% and 12.4% respectively year-on-year.
