On Dec 15, East Genetics Group shipped 48 breeding pigs (10 boars, 38 sows) to Altan Taria in Ulaanbaatar via Erenhot in about 10 hours, the first scaled export since 2018. East Genetics is Inner Mongolia’s only National Core Pig Breeding Farm; Ningxia Xiaoming Co. already supplies Mongolia with over 2 million hatching eggs annually, exceeding 50% market share.
On December 15, Chifeng East Genetics Group sent 48 home-bred pedigree pigs to Mongolia, marking the first scaled export of Chinese breeding pigs since 2018.
The lot comprised 10 boars and 38 purebred sows. A dedicated transporter left Chifeng, Inner Mongolia, exited via the Erenhot border crossing, and arrived in Ulaanbaatar in a journey of roughly 10 hours.

The customer is Altan Taria, a Mongolian agri-food group founded in 1959 that began in flour milling and later expanded into grain purchase and storage, flour and noodle processing, feed milling, pig farming, and meat slaughter and processing.
Mongolia spans 1,566,500 km² and is home to around 3.5 million people (as of August 2025), with roughly 1.5 million residents in the capital, Ulaanbaatar. With vast rangelands and a long winter, the country’s livestock sector still relies on extensive grazing of cattle, sheep, horses, and camels. The total livestock inventory in 2024 stood at about 5.76 million head.
Chifeng East Genetics is the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region’s only “National Core Pig Breeding Farm.” Its core herd includes about 6,000 purebred sows and 1,000 boars, enabling annual output of roughly 70,000 high-quality Grandparent Stock (GP) pigs. This shipment is the company’s first export of pigs to Mongolia and, at industry level, China’s first scaled breeding-pig export since 2018.

Before pigs, China’s poultry genetics had already entered Mongolia. Ningxia Xiaoming Co. began cooperation in 2008; over 17 years, annual hatching-egg supplies rose from tens of thousands to more than 2 million. According to statistics, the company’s market share in Mongolia has surpassed 50%..
