Wens Group has dismantled its Poultry Business Unit and created three new regional divisions to streamline management and boost efficiency. The company also established two new departments at headquarters and reinstated Qin Kaitian as Vice President. This strategic move mirrors earlier reforms in Wens pig division, highlighting its push for flatter structures, stronger regional accountability, and enhanced internal competitiveness.
On May 14, Wens Group—one of China’s largest integrated livestock companies—announced a sweeping organizational restructuring, formally dissolving its Poultry Business Unit. In its place, the company has established three regionally focused branches: Poultry Division I, II, and III.
Alongside this structural shift, Wens has also created two new functional departments at the corporate level: the Poultry Operations Management Department and the Poultry Production Technology Department.

The restructuring aims to reduce bureaucracy and enhance managerial efficiency by flattening the organizational hierarchy and shortening management chains. According to a corporate statement released on May 15, the move is designed to “optimize management scope and operational scale alignment,” thereby enabling more agile and efficient decision-making. The company also emphasized its goal to foster healthy internal competition and cross-regional learning by empowering local units.
Under the new structure:
- Poultry Division I will oversee broiler production and poultry processing in Guangdong and Fujian.
- Poultry Division II will manage operations in East China.
- Poultry Division III will be responsible for Guangxi, Hunan, Hubei, and the Southwest regions.
This division reflects a refined focus on geographical specialization, which Wens believes will allow it better to tailor production practices and market strategies to local conditions.
The reform process is being spearheaded by Qin Kaitian, who was reinstated as Vice President of Wens Group. Qin, born in 1967, has been a key figure in the company’s expansion since joining in 1995. He previously held the role of Poultry Division President and served as company Vice President from 2020 to 2021 before stepping back upon joining the board in late 2021.

Wens recent poultry division overhaul follows a precedent set in the company’s pig farming segment. Back in 2020, the company split its Pig Business Unit into Swine Division I and Swine Division II, corresponding to South and North China, respectively. In 2022, a third swine unit was carved out from Swine Division II to create Swine Division III, with jurisdiction over four regional companies in the Southwest, Qinjin, Northeast, and North China. The Swine Division II headquarters was inaugurated in July 2023 in Xuyi, Jiangsu Province.
These moves highlight Wens ongoing commitment to devolving operational authority to regional hubs while maintaining centralized strategic control. By adopting this matrix-like structure, Wens aims to boost productivity and responsiveness in its vast livestock operations.
